Am I eligible for a library card?
If you are a Litchfield (Bantam, Northfield, or Milton) resident or taxpayer, you are eligible for a Litchfield library card! We also issue "special library cards" to be used only at the Oliver Wolcott Library for Litchfield teachers and students who live on campus of private schools/institutions that reside in Litchfield. Stop in today to get your library card!
For a full discussion of registration and responsibilities of library card holders, please see our Library Policies.
Need to renew your card?
Stop in with your library card and we will renew it for another four years!
Live in another town but want to borrow from the Oliver Wolcott Library?
We welcome library patrons from other towns. Simply visit your hometown library (the Town you reside in and/or pay taxes to) and apply for a library card there. Once you have a library card from any public library in Connecticut, you may borrow materials from the Oliver Wolcott Library. Without a card, you are still welcome to attend programs, use our computers, and use materials at the Library.
Overdue and Lost Material Policy?
The Library has a "no fines" policy. We do not charge fines for the first 15 days although we do have a conscience box that we encourage donations for overdue materials. After 30 days, any unreturned items are considered "lost" and will be subject to a fee (non-refundable even if the material is returned) plus the cost for replacing the item. After 45 days, the lost item may be sent to a collection agency and a non-refundable fee of $12.95 will be charged.
We welcome and encourage patrons to renew overdue materials. Renewing borrowed items before they are overdue saves the Library money. The Library is charged a fee for every overdue notice generated. In addition, there is the cost of staff time, stamps, envelopes, etc. Please renew! We accept renewals by phone (860) 567-8030, online ("My Account") or stop in!
